Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to own major features, shape the Android team, and ensure reliable, high-quality user experiences across our Android apps. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to drive releases, implement robust tests, and deliver nightly builds for QA in a fast-paced, fully remote, distributed environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Android software engineering, deep Kotlin expertise, and a passion for UX.

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience.
Familiarity with Android components.
Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
Product design intuition and user empathy.
Drive to push the boundaries of Android UI/UX.
Understanding of tests and how to approach writing tests.
Self-motivation to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with Kotlin and modern Android tooling.

Responsibilities

Own major features and collaborate with design to deliver high quality features.
Shape the future of the Android team.
Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
Participate in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering).
Review pull requests and support teammates.
Handle critical issues and unexpected challenges.
Own feature releases and provide nightly builds for QA.
