Job summary

Reddit Consumer Engineering is hiring Android engineers to build user-facing experiences at scale. You will work with product managers, designers, data scientists, ML engineers, and backend teams to shape and ship features that help millions of Redditors discover and engage with content across communities.

You’ll own projects from design to launch, focus on performance and reliability, and mentor teammates while advancing engineering standards. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Professional experience developing native Android applications with Kotlin and a strong understanding of Android frameworks and application architecture.
• Ability to write idiomatic, readable, reusable, and testable code, with strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, reliability, and maintainability.
• Experience designing mobile systems and interfaces, evaluating architectural tradeoffs, and building scalable features from APIs through user-facing UI.
• Experience with experimentation, feature flags, instrumentation, analytics, and product or quality-of-experience metrics. Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Android accessibility, Media3 or ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, HLS or DASH, recommendation systems, or ML-integrated products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve user-facing Android experiences that help people discover, consume, create, and engage with content and communities.
• Lead projects through the full development lifecycle, from product definition and technical design to implementation, experimentation, launch, and ongoing improvement.
• Partner with product, design, data science, ML, backend, and platform teams to shape strategy, translate technical capabilities into intuitive experiences, and deliver measurable user impact.
• Improve Android architecture, performance, reliability, accessibility, developer workflows, and engineering standards while mentoring teammates and driving cross-functional technical initiatives.
