Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking a Senior Android Developer to design, develop, and deliver native Android apps using Kotlin and Java. You will work across product, design, backend, cloud, QA, and operations to build reliable, scalable mobile solutions for store operations and customer experiences.

The role emphasizes architecture patterns, performance optimization, secure coding, and modern development standards. This is an on-site position based in Irving, TX with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years native Android development in Kotlin/Java.
• Strong Android SDK and lifecycle knowledge including permissions, storage, threading, networking.
• Experience with scalable architectures: MVVM, Clean Architecture, DI, modular code.
• RESTful API integration, JSON, auth flows, error handling, offline storage.
• Profiling and tuning for memory, performance, battery, crashes.
• Device performance testing across Android hardware, OS versions.
• Unit testing, TDD, automated UI tests, code coverage.
• Git, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release management, crash reporting.
• Analytical thinker; communicate technical recommendations clearly.
• Responsive mobile development across OS versions and devices.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain native Android apps using Kotlin/Java.
• Apply Android fundamentals across lifecycle, permissions, storage, threading, networking.
• Implement modular architecture with MVVM, Clean Architecture, DI.
• Build responsive experiences for multiple screen sizes and Android versions.
• Profile and optimize memory, performance, startup time, and battery usage.
• Conduct device performance testing on Android hardware and in real stores.
• Implement secure practices for permissions, storage, tokens, and API calls.
• Integrate with REST APIs, cloud services, and backend services with offline support.
• Write unit, integration, and automated UI tests to improve quality.
• Mentor developers and participate in code reviews & CI/CD releases.
• Collaborate with product/design/backend/security/ops to deliver production-ready apps.
• Evaluate libraries and SDKs to accelerate delivery while managing risk.
• Support production troubleshooting and release readiness for store tech apps.
