Job summary

Cantina is seeking an Android Engineer to lead high-performance features—from personalized feeds and immersive UIs to AI-driven media capabilities. You’ll collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to ship polished experiences to a large user base.

You bring 8+ years of Android experience, expert Kotlin, Jetpack Compose mastery, MVVM, and DI. You’ll optimize media pipelines, craft smooth animations, and uphold code quality with rigorous testing and profiling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Android development experience.
• Expert-level Kotlin with Coroutines, Flow, and modern language features.
• Deep Jetpack Compose expertise: custom layouts, state management, animation APIs, performance profiling.
• Strong MVVM architecture knowledge and Android architecture components.
• Hands-on experience with dependency injection (Koin or Hilt) in production apps.
• Solid understanding of Android internals: memory management, rendering, Choreographer, GC, battery profiling.
• Experience with media frameworks: ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, Camera2/CameraX, real-time effects.
• Ability to write readable, maintainable, tested code and work with RESTful APIs and Git.
• Bonus: AI-driven media features, real-time video/audio effects, or WebRTC on Android.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship high-quality Android features using Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and modern architecture patterns.
• Develop and optimize video/audio pipelines, real-time media effects, and AI-powered visual features on Android.
• Craft immersive custom UI experiences with advanced animations and motion design.
• Leverage Android internals knowledge to deliver buttery-smooth performance.
• Architect and maintain MVVM structure with clear separation across UI, domain, and data layers.
• Set up DI using Koin or Hilt for scalable, testable module graphs.
• Participate in architecture discussions and uphold high standards for code quality and testability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA teams to deliver polished, scalable experiences.
• Take ownership of features in a fast-moving team shipping to a large user base.
