Job summary

SumUp's Hardware Development team is moving our Android-based embedded platform forward from the ground up at the Berlin office. You’ll help define how the OS, drivers, and secure processor come together, collaborating with hardware, software, and QA engineers during bring-up.

We seek an experienced engineer with deep Android OS knowledge, strong C for embedded Linux, and hands-on debugging of interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, SDIO) on Snapdragon or MediaTek platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience with embedded Android OS in a professional setting.
• Deep knowledge of Android OS architecture from boot to framework.
• Hands-on debugging of hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, SDIO).
• Strong grasp of embedded security concepts like Secure Boot and TrustZone.
• Experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon or MediaTek platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support system bring-up for the new Android embedded platform, from bootloader through to kernel and framework
• Integrate and maintain kernel modules and drivers, including power management and connectivity components
• Contribute to build system integration across the platform
• Debug hardware and software issues at the protocol level and help resolve critical issues found during testing
• Carry out testing and validation to confirm the platform is stable and secure before release
