Job summary

Waymo is seeking a technical lead to shape the overarching architecture for the in-car experience (ICX), spanning hardware bring-up to rider-facing apps. You will drive cross-team milestones, steer integration of features like 3D car view and AI agents, and mentor engineers while elevating code quality and reliability.

This hybrid role reports to an Engineering Director and offers influence across product, UX, systems engineering and hardware collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a technical lead delivering multi-team solutions.
• Experience with Android/AOSP and building platform features.
• Deep knowledge of Android OS internals, C++ native layers, Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose.

Responsibilities

• Set the overarching technical architecture across the in-car experience (ICX).
• Identify cross-team bottlenecks and translate them into milestones for teams.
• Steer the integration of complex features like 3D car view and AI features.
• Establish high standards for code health, system reliability, and testing, while mentoring engineers.
• Contribute in design and code to land challenging work.
