Job summary

Waymo is expanding its ICX team to enhance the in-car experience across our autonomous fleet. This hybrid role reports to an Engineering Director and focuses on leading several TLMs and their sub-teams, aligning product, design, and data science to deliver a premier driver experience.

You will set technical direction, drive cross-team collaboration, and steer integration of AI and 3D features while mentoring junior and senior engineers in a fast-evolving AV environment.

Qualifications

• Management experience leading 25+ engineers total across multiple sub-teams.
• Proven technical lead delivering multi-team solutions.
• Experience with Android/AOSP beyond app development.
• Deep knowledge of C++ and modern UI frameworks (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose).
• Strong system design skills and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the entire in-car experience (ICX) across teams with product, design and data science.
• Set multi-year technical architecture and bridge stack layers from hardware to rider apps.
• Identify bottlenecks and translate to actionable milestones.
• Drive integration of high-impact features like 3D car view and AI features.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high standards for code health, reliability and testing.
