Velir is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead scalable analytics data models and pipelines that produce clear, trustworthy insights. This role is remote within New York, NY, with a focus on performance, maintainability, and reusability across client projects.

You will drive dbt development, testing, and CI/CD while mentoring peers through code reviews and pairing. Collaboration with analysts and engineers will turn ambiguous requirements into well-structured data models and semantic layers.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data modeling and transformation.
• Expert in dbt with strong testing and CI/CD practices.
• Advanced knowledge of data modeling (Kimball/OBT) and semantic layers.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake or BigQuery).
• Version control with Git and modern data integration patterns (CDC/ELT).
• Familiarity with Fivetran, Dagster, or Apache Airflow for orchestration.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead scalable analytics data models and pipelines with a focus on performance.
• Drive dbt development best practices, including testing and CI/CD.
• Mentor peers through code reviews and pair programming.
• Contribute to tooling, shared dbt packages, and scalable analytics frameworks.
• Turn complex business requirements into well-structured data models and semantic layers.
• Advise cross-functional teams on data governance and long-term scalability.
• Ensure end-to-end delivery is reliable, well-documented, and client-focused.
• Identify data quality issues and implement durable fixes across the stack.
