Job summary

PLZ Corp in the United States is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to lead testing of raw materials and in-process batches using GC, IR, and HPLC, ensuring accuracy and compliance with approved laboratory procedures. You will collaborate with Quality and Operations, maintain instruments, calibrate routinely, and develop or adapt methods for new materials.

A Bachelor's in chemistry or chemical engineering and 5–7 years of analytical experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in analytical or laboratory roles.
• Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and analytical method development.

Responsibilities

• Test incoming raw materials according to established protocols and communicate results.
• Test in-process batches and notify stakeholders of results.
• Recommend re-work or re-blend for batches not meeting specifications.
• Improve testing methodologies, documentation, and reporting for accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and provide guidance on proper use.
• Perform scheduled instrument calibrations to ensure accurate results.
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations to resolve daily issues.
• Prepare and distribute laboratory reports and SOPs.
• Interface with customer technical teams to communicate results.
• Support method development or adaptation for new materials.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

The Senior Analytical Chemist is responsible for leading the testing raw materials and in-process batches in accordance with established laboratory procedures. This role utilizes analytical instrumentation—including GC, IR, and HPLC—on a daily basis and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support quality and operational excellence.

Hours for this role is Monday - Thursday: 6 am - 4 pm CT

Key Responsibility:

• Test incoming raw materials according to established protocols, clearly communicating pass/fail results and identifying out-of-specification parameters when applicable.
• Test all in-process batches per established procedures and notify appropriate stakeholders of results.
• Provide recommendations for re-work or re-blend of in-process batches that do not meet specifications.
• Continuously improving testing methodologies, documentation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and provide guidance on proper use within the Quality Assurance laboratory.
• Perform scheduled instrument calibrations to ensure accurate, precise, and repeatable results.
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to identify and resolve daily technical and quality-related issues.
• Prepare, maintain, and distribute required laboratory reports.
• Follow, write, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs related to analytical instrumentation and testing.
• Interface with customer technical teams to communicate laboratory capabilities and analytical results.
• Support method development or adaptation for new raw materials based on supplier or manufacturer input.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering.
• Five to Seven (5-7) years of experience in a similar analytical or laboratory role.
• Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and analytical method development.
• Experience with pesticide analysis and extraction is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
