The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Senior Analyst in Report Engineering to enhance HR strategies through data analytics. Imagine yourself as aReporting Engineer in Data Engineering for People Insights where your natural passion for working with data will allow you to be part of a team that enables insights to drive the enterprise HR strategy of The Walt Disney Company. As a Reporting Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining various technical solutions to support end users through reports, dashboards, and other products and solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, SQL, and data visualization tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Structures and Modeling
Design, develop, and maintain Snowflake objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions to support reporting requirements
Use programming languages to compile complex data into a format that reporting tools can efficiently handle
Apply advanced knowledge of data warehouse structures/models and design principles to optimize data extraction and transformation
Reporting Development and Optimization:
Translate report requirements into technical specifications for data model builds and report construction
Leverage complex tool features, such as html, to enhance user experience or to join external data alongside system data in one report
Identify opportunities to improve query performance, data loading processes, and overall system efficiency within Snowflake
Continuous optimization and fine-tuning of reports and reporting processes for improved performance
Explore new tools, technologies and best practices to enhance efficiency and provide innovative solutions
Automation:
Build data pipelines that cleanse and combine information from disparate sources, with a specific expertise in understanding integrating data from apps like Smartsheet or translating manually collected data into efficient and consistent outputs
Consult with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, to deliver data pipelines that efficiently render in reporting tools
Collaboration:
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deeply understand the business needs & outcomes
Provide consultative support across a diverse group of clients and partners, building trust and influence
Work closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, business analysts, and data scientists to deliver impactful reporting solutions
Documentation and Training :
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of report specifications, data models/design decisions, and reporting use cases to ensure knowledge transfer and support continuity
Provide training and support to end users on accessing and interpreting solutions to ensure successful adoption and utilization of tools
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in report engineering, data analytics, data engineering, or similar
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics or similar discipline
Expertise in scripting languages such as SQL and Python, and experience with database technologies such as Snowflake
Demonstrated proficiency in Smartsheet or Airtable, with experience working with partners to build and scale solutions
Experience developing reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Cognos
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Effectively handle and maintain confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with HR data, systems, and processes (e.g. Workday, SAP)
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies
