Essex Property Trust in Irvine seeks a Financial Planning & Analysis professional to support the Reinvestment team by reporting, analyzing, and forecasting financial performance, synthesizing data for investment strategies.

The role develops Excel models and Power BI dashboards to guide capital allocations, creates financial projections and underwriting support, and conducts market analyses while collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, accounting or economics.
• 2–3 years of FP&A experience.
• Multifamily real estate experience preferred.
• Proficiency with pivot tables for reporting and insights.
• Proficiency with automated reporting toolsets.
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI skills.
• Advanced Excel modeling including projections and scenario analysis.
• Strong financial literacy and ability to read financial statements.
• Detail-oriented, analytical and problem-solving skills.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Reporting and Data Analysis Support the Reinvestment team by reporting, analyzing, and forecasting financial performance. Synthesize data to aid in the formulation of investment strategies.
• Data Visualization and Business Intelligence Develop and maintain Excel models and Power BI dashboards to guide capital allocation decisions. Collaborate with business end-users to create compelling visualizations reflecting various KPIs.
• Financial Modeling and Underwriting Create detailed financial models for capital investments and assist in underwriting projects that generate revenue. Prepare both routine and special reports and presentations for senior management that provide insight and support decision-making processes.
• Market Analysis Gather and analyze market data to prepare comprehensive market analyses. Involves maintaining understanding of local markets (competition, supply pipeline, demand drivers, major points of interest, market absorption).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments to ensure the achievement of key objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in real estate, finance, accounting and/or economics required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial planning & analysis.
• Experience in multifamily real estate is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in creating and analyzing complex pivot tables for data reporting and insights.
• Proficiency in creating structured reports utilizing automated toolsets
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills, including financial projections and scenario analysis.
• Strong financial literacy with the ability to interpret and analyze income statements, balance sheets, and other financial documents.
• Detail-oriented, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.

New hires generally start between $94,000.00 - $117,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.

This role is also eligible to participate in Essex's discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
