What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist leadership and various teams in addressing data privacy issues and compliance initiatives
- Manage data subject access requests and health information release requests
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and implement privacy by design principles
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise leadership on emerging risks and compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified approach to privacy compliance
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Compliance, Legal Studies, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in privacy compliance, preferably within healthcare
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and relevant state privacy laws and regulations
- Proven experience in privacy incident investigations and regulatory reporting
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Professional certifications such as CHPC, CHP, CIPP/US, or equivalent
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Athena, NextGen) and healthcare IT privacy challenges
- Experience working in multi-site healthcare delivery organizations
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
