General Index seeks a Senior Pricing Analyst in Houston to run daily price assessments for Americas crude oil or refined products, maintain index quality, and build trust in GX benchmarks with market participants. This is a full-time role in our Houston office.

You will own either crude oil or refined products modules, manage daily assessments, ensure methodology alignment, and engage with data contributors and clients to explain and defend assessments.

Qualificações

• BA/BS required, numerate subjects preferred (Engineering, Finance, Economics).
• Minimum 3 years experience in a price assessment role at a PRA.
• Expert PRA-style price assessment knowledge for Americas crude oil or refined products.
• Comfortable sourcing, validating, and building relationships with market participants and data providers.
• Experience using AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate work while maintaining accuracy.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Pricing Analyst to join our team on a full-time basis in our Houston office. This is a Price Reporting Agency (PRA)-type price assessment role. It is not a product development, software development, fundamentals analysis, or sales-side pricing position. In this role, you'll draw on your Americas crude oil or refined products (gasoline and/or middle distillates) price assessment experience, gained at a recognized Price Reporting Agency (PRA), to help maintain the quality and integrity of our indexes, engage with market participants, and build broader recognition and trust in GX benchmarks. This is a role for someone who wants ownership of their work, room to contribute ideas, and the opportunity to grow their professional profile in a collaborative, high-quality environment. Drawing on your background, you'll take ownership of either the crude oil or refined products module, with responsibility for daily price assessment and index generation, methodology alignment, and relationship-building with market participants and data contributors in your segment. Beyond the core assessment function, you will:

• Develop trade and data-driven market insights that contextualize price movements, grounded in the transactions, bids, offers, and other data behind each assessment.
• Partner with Commercial and other teams to help clients understand our assessment methodology and adopt GX data.
• Handle client queries and data corrections on published assessments, documenting the rationale behind each decision.
• Contribute to the identification and development of methodology for new assessments, from market scoping through to index launch.
• Support GX webinars, publications, and other thought-leadership content.
• Share knowledge and best practices across the team.

About you

• A BA/BS is required, with preference towards numerate subjects such as Engineering, Finance, or Economics.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a price assessment role at a recognized Price Reporting Agency (PRA), covering Americas crude oil or refined products (gasoline and/or middle distillates) is required.
• Expert knowledge of PRA-style price assessment methodology for Americas crude oil or refined products, including how bids, offers, and transactions are weighed and how assessments are governed under the IOSCO Principles for Price Reporting Agencies, is required.
• Comfortable sourcing, validating, and building relationships with market participants and data providers.
• Experience using AI tools thoughtfully and critically, knowing when and how to apply them to accelerate your work while maintaining accuracy and professional standards.
• Solution driven, naturally curious, possess a high level of numerical ability, and have the willingness to learn and adopt new technology.
• Your accuracy and attention to detail are exceptional.
• Possess strong communication skills and the confidence and ability to present and articulate a topic clearly.
