  • Define and document data quality metrics and KPIs; establish workflows for issue resolution and continuous improvement in data quality.
  • Work with technology teams to evolve proprietary software supporting team workflows.

Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $87,200.00 - $145,300.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 10% or $, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Reporting to the Manager, Customer Data Acquisition and Standards, the Senior Analyst, Customer Information ensures that business and IT follow and maintain alignment to Data Governance processes, data quality rules and standards for data assets within the Grainger systems. This role is a tangible function of the data governance framework ensuring the data is managed through its complete lifecycle, as an enterprise asset. We are looking for a candidate with data management background who understands data, how to govern and curate data and improve its consistency and quality.

This is a high-impact, foundational role that helps shape data governance structures, data ownership, and accountability models as we scale our governance practice, partnering closely with key business stakeholders. We are looking for someone with thought leadership, governance fundamentals, achieves consensus on data standards, and who also has experience with B2B Customer Information domain and data quality tools.

This is a hybrid position requiring presence onsite 50% of time at our Lake Forest, IL headquarters or Chicago, IL Merchandise Mart office.

You Will

Evaluate data inconsistencies across business areas and frame resolutions (data gaps, missing information, mis-categorizations).

Develop and govern data guidelines, metrics, policies, standards, processes, and data procedures.

Define important data object classification (taxonomy, attributes, attribute values) and their meaning, metadata, rules for use, format, and lineage.

Function as the lead custodian of data assets, provide oversight of important team processes and how they produce high-quality customer outcomes.

Review information architecture for alignment with guidelines, data standards, and governance strategy.

Design training and documentation to enable team members to understand and follow established data guidelines.

Define and document data quality metrics and KPIs; establish workflows for issue resolution and continuous improvement in data quality.

Work closely with technology teams to evolve proprietary software which supports team workflows.

You Have

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

3 plus years of related professional experience.

Related hands‑on project experience working with metadata, data quality, data cataloging, metrics, data standards, policies, and learning & development.

Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL).

Experience translating complex technical analyses into actionable business insights and reports for stakeholders.

Collaborate with leadership, business users, and technical personnel.
