Job summary

Marwood Group, a leading healthcare advisory and research firm based in New York City, is seeking a Senior Analyst/Associate in Revenue Cycle Management. You will support due diligence engagements and post-transaction performance improvement through rigorous data analysis and client-ready deliverables.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support RCM due diligence engagements from kickoff through final reporting.
  • Manage workplans, RFIs, status trackers, issue logs, meeting notes, and project documentation.
  • Review data room materials, identify information gaps, and coordinate follow-up requests.
  • Maintain documentation of assumptions, data sources, limitations, and outstanding issues.
  • Support multiple workstreams while meeting compressed transaction timelines.
  • Prepare client-ready PowerPoint presentations, Excel workpapers, and executive summaries.
  • Translate analytical findings into concise business insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engagement leaders and client stakeholders.
  • Present findings during internal meetings and client sessions.

Our Performance Improvement (PI) Practice partners with institutional investors and healthcare organizations to drive value creation and strategic transformation initiatives across the healthcare ecosystem, including revenue optimization, operational excellence, and corporate development support.

The Senior Analyst/Associate – Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Due Diligence & Advisory supports transaction-related RCM assessments and select post-transaction performance improvement initiatives. Working under the direction of an Engagement Leader or Director, this role analyzes operational and financial data, identifies revenue cycle risks and opportunities, and develops client-ready analyses and presentations.

The ideal candidate combines strong RCM expertise, analytical rigor, business judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support RCM due diligence engagements from kickoff through final reporting.
  • Manage workplans, RFIs, status trackers, issue logs, meeting notes, and project documentation.
  • Review data room materials, identify information gaps or inconsistencies, and coordinate follow-up requests.
  • Maintain documentation of assumptions, data sources, limitations, and outstanding issues.
  • Support multiple workstreams while meeting compressed transaction timelines.
Process Assessment & Discovery
  • Prepare for and facilitate interviews with RCM leadership and operational staff.
  • Evaluate end-to-end revenue cycle functions, including:
  • Eligibility & Authorization
  • Charge Capture
  • Coding
  • Payment Posting
  • Denials Management
  • Accounts Receivable Follow-up
  • Patient Collections
  • Credit Balances
  • Document current-state workflows, identify operational risks, validate management responses, and develop improvement opportunities.
Data Analysis & Financial Validation
  • Analyze claims, charges, payments, denials, AR, payer, provider, scheduling, and operational datasets.
  • Perform analyses of:
  • AR aging and quality
  • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
  • Gross and Net Collection Rates
  • Charge and payment lag
  • Cash collections
  • Productivity and staffing
  • Reconcile source data to financial statements, general ledger, EHR/PM reports, and Quality of Earnings analyses.
  • Assess data completeness, accuracy, and reliability while documenting assumptions and limitations.
  • Evaluate payer contracts, reimbursement trends, and vendor performance when applicable.
Operational Improvement
  • Assess organizational structure, staffing, workflows, reporting, system configuration, KPI governance, and vendor performance.
  • Identify revenue leakage, control gaps, working capital risks, and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Support workflow mapping and future-state process design when required.
Deliverables & Quality Assurance
  • Prepare client-ready PowerPoint presentations, Excel workpapers, executive summaries, and analytical exhibits.
  • Ensure calculations are traceable and supported by documented methodologies.
  • Perform quality reviews for formulas, reconciliations, formatting, and narrative consistency.
  • Translate analytical findings into concise business insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engagement leaders, subject matter experts, transaction advisory teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Present findings during internal meetings and selected client sessions.
  • Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and data limitations effectively.
  • Support post-transaction assessments and performance improvement engagements as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Health Information Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management, healthcare consulting, healthcare finance, analytics, or transaction advisory.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, Power Query, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, reconciliation, charting).
  • Experience working with large datasets and documenting assumptions and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of financial concepts including AR, revenue recognition, cash vs. accrual accounting, net revenue, and Quality of Earnings.
  • Experience conducting process discovery interviews and documenting findings.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with healthcare claims and remittance data (837/835, ERA/EOB).
  • SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx experience.
  • Experience with Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, MEDITECH, Allscripts/Veradigm, or similar EHR/PM systems.
  • Experience across multiple healthcare provider settings.
  • Professional certifications (CRCR, CHFP, CPC, CCS/CCA, CPA, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, Finance, Analytics, or related field).
