Job summary

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is seeking a Senior Analyst, Accounting Systems to connect finance, accounting, merchandising, and technology at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.

You will partner with IT and business teams to evolve Oracle merchandising configurations and ensure accurate financial reporting. In this role you will translate growth initiatives into scalable system requirements, maintain GL mappings, support new channels, and drive process improvements in an agile environment for

Qualifications

  • _undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in accounting/finance/IS
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in finance/accounting/IS
  • Understanding of inventory and intercompany accounting in a retail environment
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience with agile development is a plus
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Translate business developments into scalable accounting system requirements and financial flows
  • Partner with IT to maintain Oracle merchandising system configurations and GL account mappings
  • Assess impacts of new selling channels and merchandise initiatives on accounting and reporting

Job description

Job Description: As a Senior Analyst, Accounting Systems you will play a key role in enabling our strategic growth by connecting finance, accounting, merchandising, and technology. You will partner closely with IT and cross-functional business teams to ensure our Oracle merchandising system, configurations, and accounting flows evolve with new business developments, selling channels, and operating models. You will help ensure growth is supported by merchandise transactions that are accurately represented in our financial statements. This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.

What you will be doing
  • Serving as a strategic finance partner to IT and business teams by translating new business developments and growth initiatives into scalable accounting system requirements and financial flows
  • Partnering with IT to enhance and maintain Oracle merchandising system configuration, including the accuracy of general ledger account mapping of transaction codes to support complete and accurate financial reporting
  • Representing finance and accounting systems team interests in new selling channel and merchandise initiatives by assessing accounting and reporting impacts early, engaging with finance subject matter experts as appropriate, influencing design decisions, and ensuring finance and compliance requirements are embedded before launch
  • Collaborating with technical teams to perform ad-hoc analysis, resolve issues, and troubleshoot application errors, identifying root causes, design solutions and validate fixes before deployment
  • Helping shape the future-state design of accounting systems while working in an agile environment to identify, prioritize and deliver finance-specific enhancements that increase efficiency, insight, and scalability
  • Maintaining and strengthening effective internal controls that support the completeness and accuracy of merchandise transactions and related financial reporting to support reliable reporting in a growing and evolving business
  • Building deep end-to-end knowledge of merchandise accounting and systems to become a trusted problem solver for complex transaction flows, emerging business models, and strategic transformation initiatives
What do you need to bring?
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Understanding of inventory and/or intercompany accounting, preferably within a retail environment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams
  • Ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships with technical partners and collaborate effectively in a non-hierarchical environment
  • Strong planning, project management, communication, and analytical skills; experience with agile development is a plus
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, embrace change, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
