Job summary

Tyson Foods in Waterloo, IA is seeking an experienced industrial maintenance technician to operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration and related plant systems. You will work with HCFC, hot water, air compressors, and waste treatment, ensuring safe, reliable production and adherence to PSM and RMP standards.

This role offers hands-on training, opportunities to advance technician skills, and collaboration with a skilled team; travel minimal; relocation not offered; sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal Air-conditioning Refrigeration Training preferred.
• RETA and IIAR Ammonia Refrigeration training preferred.
• 3+ years in Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration in a food plant preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools.
• Extensive knowledge of industrial safety procedures preferred.
• Ability to read P&ID diagrams and pass HAZ-MAT/EMR training.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain ammonia refrigeration, HCFC, hot water, air compressors, and waste treatment systems.
• Proactively monitor equipment to ensure safe, efficient facility operations.
• Follow OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
• Collaborate with team members, management, operations personnel, and contractors.
• Participate in ongoing training and skills development.
• Support emergency response readiness and safety programs.
• Document work activities using maintenance software.
