Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking an AMI Operations Specialist to monitor AMI systems, analyze performance data, and resolve operational issues across meter communications and customer operations in Merrillville, IN. The role supports system upgrades and works closely with field operations, customer service, billing, and outage management.

The position may be filled at Specialist II, III, or Senior level based on experience, offering a hybrid work arrangement with onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in utility operations, customer operations, information technology, metering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Salary range: $82,200.00 - 123,200.00 USD Annual.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze AMI system performance, network communications, meter read delivery, and KPIs.
• Investigate and resolve AMI alerts, alarms, no-read conditions, data exceptions, and communication issues.
• Support software, firmware, and system upgrades, including testing and validation.
• Partner with field operations, customer service, billing, outage management, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Monitor and analyze system reports, device performance, GIS data, and equipment trends to improve operations.
• Utilize reporting tools to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate issue escalation and support resolution of meter, network, and communication-related concerns.
