Job summary

National Life Group is seeking an Actuary to lead ALM modeling, reporting to the Head of the Modeling Center of Excellence. You will own asset‑liability and scenario modeling across lines of business, quantify interactions of assets, liabilities, product features, and investment strategy, and deliver robust ALM insights to executives.

The role partners with Investments, Risk, and Finance, supports ORSA and capital workstreams, and ensures governance and documentation standards in model

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive actuarial experience, Senior Actuary level, including ALM/asset modeling.
• Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (FSA or ASA).
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or related quantitative discipline.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining actuarial projection models on an open platform (MG-ALFA preferred).
• Knowledge of asset modeling including fixed income, structured assets, prepayment and default assumptions, and reinvestment strategies.
• Understanding of interest rate risk measurement (duration, convexity, key rate durations).
• Experience with economic scenario generators and stochastic scenario design.
• Understanding of modeling frameworks that consume ALM output (asset adequacy testing, ORSA, RBC, VM-20).
• Keen ability to translate technical modeling into business insights for senior management.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and enhancement of the enterprise ALM model and related strategies.
• Model the general account investment portfolio including fixed income, structured assets, alternatives, and derivatives; maintain economic scenario sets.
• Produce and explain ALM results (duration, convexity, key rate exposures, cash flow matching).
• Partner with senior leaders to translate questions into modeling specs and deliver clear answers.
• Support asset adequacy testing, ORSA, capital, and statutory reporting workstreams.
• Collaborate with Investments on reinvestment/disinvestment strategies and asset allocation studies.
• Work with Enterprise Risk Management and Capital Management on risk metrics, limits, and stress testing.
• Support modeling of hedging programs for indexed products and establish best practices for model governance.
