Qualifications

• Proficiency in related CAD and visualization tools (NX, CATIA, ICEM Surf, VRED, or similar).
• Experience collaborating with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams; ability to interpret sketches and specs.
• Solid knowledge of surface quality standards, curvature continuity, and manufacturability considerations for automotive/industrial design.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines on-site.
• Prior experience in the automotive industry or complex product development environments is highly beneficial.

Role Description

The Senior Alias Modeller is a full-time, on-site role based in Torrance, CA, responsible for creating high-quality 3D surface models using Alias for automotive or product design programs. In this role, the individual collaborates closely with industrial designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate sketches and design concepts into accurate digital surfaces that meet aesthetic and engineering requirements. Daily tasks include developing and refining Class-A surfaces, ensuring data integrity and compatibility with downstream CAD and engineering tools, and maintaining design intent throughout the modelling process. The Senior Alias Modeller also contributes to design reviews, supports feasibility studies, and works within established timelines and project standards while mentoring junior team members on best practices in Alias surfacing.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Alias modelling and Class-A surfacing, with a track record of delivering production-ready digital models.
• Proficiency in related CAD and visualization tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, ICEM Surf, VRED, or similar), and understanding of data exchange and version control processes.
• Experience collaborating with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams, with the ability to interpret sketches, clay models, and technical specifications.
• Solid knowledge of surface quality standards, curvature continuity, and manufacturability considerations for automotive or industrial design.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in an on-site, team-oriented environment.
• Prior experience in the automotive industry or complex product development environments is highly beneficial.
