Job summary

Avports is seeking an experienced projects professional to manage capital and operating projects at New York Stewart International Airport (SWF). You will oversee planning, design, construction, and inspections, coordinating with internal and external teams to deliver high-quality results on a large facility.

The role requires strong knowledge of NY Building Code, contract administration, and effective stakeholder communication. On-site work at SWF in New Windsor, NY is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience in project management, design, inspection, and/or construction.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently utilizing limited resources to achieve complex goals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Building Code requirements, construction standards, and other applicable Engineering Design Codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead project management of both capital and operating projects for the facility.
• Develop, administer, and coordinate the airport Capital Plan and Annual Major Maintenance Programs (AMMP).
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver a feasible asset management plan that meets the goals of the facility.
• Serve as the airport technical expert regarding Fire Protection and Life Safety (FPLS) issues and facility operation standards.
• Coordinate and oversee implementation, repair, and resolution of deficiencies related to mandatory structural and fire protection and life safety (FPLS) inspections as well as tenant lease inspections.
• Assist in the development of work scope, budget preparation, and management of consultant contracts.
• Coordinate the facility structural integrity program including working with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s Quality Assurance Department (QAD) regarding their cyclical inspection program.
• Serve as the facility liaison for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Aviation Department Sustainability Program.
• Prepare technical drawings when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
