Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to operate, maintain, and modify heating and air-handling equipment within safety standards. The role covers boilers, chillers, fans, ductwork, and maintenance across the airport utilities division.

Qualifications

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of heating and ventilating theories and principles; ability to diagnose issues.
  • Knowledge of air-conditioning and mechanical operation; troubleshoot.
  • Ability to read HVAC units, return air, and mixed-air fans.
  • Experience using energy management software to adjust set points.
  • Ability to work safely and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots problems with high-pressure boilers and related equipment; performs major repairs as needed.
  • Repairs or replaces HVAC equipment and components, including motors, controls, and seals.
  • Cuts, threads, and replaces pipes; installs duct work and diffusers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and responds to trouble calls.
  • Operates high-pressure boilers and large chillers; adjusts or takes units offline as needed.
