Job summary

Astronomer in New York is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Airflow Infra team. You will build the critical layer that connects the open-source Airflow ecosystem to enterprise-grade, massively scalable cloud infrastructure, shaping how global data pipelines run at scale.

This hybrid role requires at least 3 days per week in our New York City office, with a salary range of $210,000 to $250,000 plus equity and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience delivering SaaS products.
• Proficient in Python or Golang and modern backend tech.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes and distributed systems.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and testing (pytest).
• Strong communication and technical specification skills.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Airflow Infra team, part of Astro, our flagship cloud platform. What you bring to the role

• 5+ years of experience building and delivering SaaS products.

• Strong proficiency in Python or Golang.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.

• Solid understanding of and experience with integrating with RESTful APIs and distributed systems.

• Comfortable with testing frameworks, such as pytest.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in creating technical specifications.

• A passion for reliability and operational excellence.

• Ability to scope work and coordinate cross-functionally to address risks and ensure successful delivery.

• Experience with software development best practices, such as code reviews, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation and debugging.

• Ability to adjust to change and rapid pace of development.

• Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues, with a focus on ownership and accountability.

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $210,000 - $250,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. This range is merely an estimate; actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
