Job summary

BETA Technologies is seeking a Senior Structures Design Engineer to lead the development of the primary and secondary airframe structures for our advanced narrowbody aircraft, spanning wing, pylon, fuselage, empennage, and control surfaces. The role is onsite at South Burlington, VT with the Raleigh, NC office, and hybrid options with occasional visits to Vermont.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of aircraft structural design or related aerospace product-development experience.
• Proficiency with CATIA or 3DEXPERIENCE CAD environments.
• Knowledge of load paths, structural sizing, joints, fasteners, GD&T, and configuration control.
• Experience taking structural concepts through layout, detailed definition, build, and test support.
• Ability to make sound design decisions with incomplete information and communicate risks clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural concepts, load paths, layouts for metallic, composite, and hybrid airframe structures.
• Create and manage 3D CAD definitions for primary/secondary structures, joints, interfaces, and installations.
• Translate requirements into structural design definitions and constraints.
• Coordinate across wing, pylon, high-lift, fuselage, and empennage design lanes.
• Perform preliminary sizing and hand calculations to guide geometry.
• Design for manufacturability, assembly, inspection, maintainability, weight, cost, and schedule.
• Develop interface-control definitions, drawings, trade studies, and configuration-controlled data.
• Coordinate with Stress, Loads, Aerodynamics, Structural Dynamics, Materials & Processes, Systems, Manufacturing.
