Job summary

Actalent in Wichita, KS is seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to support both new and aftermarket business jet programs. You will design metallic and composite airframe components, develop 3D models, and prepare drawings using CATIA V5 while collaborating with stress, fatigue, manufacturing, and certification teams.

This role requires a BS in aerospace or mechanical engineering, 8+ years of airframe design experience, and strong GD&T and blueprint-reading skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of airframe structural design experience.
• 5+ years CATIA V5 3D CAD experience.
• Strong knowledge of metallic and composite aircraft structures.
• Experience creating and defining aerospace composite designs in 3D models and 2D drawings.
• GD&T and blueprint interpretation proficiency.
• Ability to generate parts lists and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design metallic and composite aircraft components, assemblies, and installations.
• Create and maintain 3D models and engineering drawings using CATIA V5.
• Develop aerodynamic loft surfaces using parametric design techniques.
• Collaborate with structural analysis, stress, fatigue, manufacturing, and certification teams.
• Interpret and prepare engineering drawings, parts lists, and technical documentation.
• Apply aerospace design principles to solve technical challenges.
• Support aircraft modification, repair, prototype, and production activities.
