Job summary

Bell Textron Inc. in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a Sr. Software Quality Engineer for Aircraft SQA to oversee software quality across military and commercial programs. The role focuses on audits, lifecycle processes, and supplier oversight within embedded software contexts.

You will develop SQAPs, coordinate with CM, and participate in formal reviews, ensuring compliance with RTCA DO-178 and related standards. On-site work with travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5+ years’ work experience in software quality assurance with at least 3 years work experience in software engineering development.
• At least 3 years of experience particularly within aerospace & defense guidance, standards and processes (RTCA DO‑178, SAE ARP‑4754, MIL‑STD‑498).
• Must have experience with process audit to all software lifecycle data.
• Ability to work with Serena Dimensions, LDRA, and VectorCAST.
• Proficiency with technical writing, presentations, and Microsoft Office; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Execute and support requirements development, verification, audits, schematic and contract interpretation, software lifecycle and verification activities, and embedded software test equipment usage.
• Produce and maintain SQA manuals, policies, and documentation while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with diverse engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain SQAPs, defining lifecycle models, entry/exit criteria, verification/validation activities, configuration management, and supplier identification.
• Coordinate with Software Configuration Management to verify builds, ensure documentation is under configuration control, and participate in change boards.
• Evaluate software engineering practices and artifacts to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and development plans.
• Participate in formal and in‑process reviews—requirements, design, code, test readiness, verification, audits; ensure coding practices and software requirements are fulfilled.
• Interface with engineers, test organizations, SMEs, customers, and suppliers to resolve issues and support milestone activities; travel as required.
• Maintain historical records, mentor teams, and contribute to software process auditor responsibilities.
