Job summary

Zipline is seeking a Motor Electromagnetic Engineer to develop and own analytical and numerical modeling for electric machines across aircraft platforms. You will build a common motor-modeling framework enabling rapid exploration of design spaces and optimization of motors within the complete aircraft system.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD focused on electric machines, electromagnetics, optimization, or powertrains.
Strong background in magnetic circuits, winding theory, and d-q modelling.
Experience with finite-element and reduced-order models for electric machines.

Responsibilities

Develop, validate, and maintain electromagnetic models for propulsion and motors.
Create scalable motor-model libraries, maps, and validation evidence.
Develop design-space clouds and perform sensitivity studies across conditions.
Integrate motor models with inverter, battery, and aircraft system models.
Plan and execute dynamometer tests for model validation.
