Job summary

Zipline is seeking an Electromechanical Test Equipment Design Engineer to own the design and development of test systems that enable engineers to characterize and validate battery and power electronics hardware for autonomous delivery aircraft. You will create robust, scalable equipment integrating mechanical design, instrumentation, and software to accelerate product development.

This role spans from individual fixtures to architecture strategy for validation infrastructure across multiple

Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical systems, structural equipment, automated machinery, or engineering test equipment.
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals including machine design, structural analysis, GD&T, tolerance analysis, hand calculations, bolted joints, fatigue, manufacturing.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate tradeoffs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development of crash safety equipment from requirements to validation.
• Design and develop custom mechanical test equipment for high-energy testing of batteries and aircraft hardware.
• Develop systems with hydraulic, pneumatic, servo-electric actuation for controlled loading.
• Produce CAD assemblies, drawings, GD&T, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
• Lead supplier engagement for fabricated equipment and machined components.
