Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Senior Air Quality Engineer/Scientist focused on New Mexico air permitting and compliance, based in New Mexico. You will lead a permitting and compliance team, manage projects, and coordinate with clients across construction, mining, utilities and manufacturing sectors.

The role covers modeling, health risk assessment and regulatory development with a strong client-management component.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science field.
• Master of Science in environmental studies, business administration, or similar field is desirable but not required.
• Minimum of nine years direct experience, including project and client management and complex air quality permitting assignments in New Mexico.
• Ability to perform air dispersion modeling and health risk assessment.
• Other environmental media experience, such as stormwater, wastewater, or hazardous material is a plus but not required.
• Understanding states outside New Mexico is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plans multiple projects simultaneously including being the senior technical lead on a project, supervising staff level professionals and technicians.
• Estimates personnel needs, assigns work, meets completion dates, interprets and ensures consistent application of firm standards.
• Coordinates the day-to-day operations of technical staff by assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance.
• Oversees development of project document deliverable outlines and layouts, technical writing of reports, data interpretation, and development of graphical presentations in a logical and professional manner.
• Consults with clients to prepare plans, reports, and assessments.
• Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
• Responsible for project budget and hours and utilizes time effectively to complete tasks within assigned timeframe(s).
• Act as a client manager to understand customer needs and distributes work assignments and proposals to appropriate teams.
• Communicates to leadership when issues arise that may inhibit performing tasks within the allotted schedule and budget.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attend professional workshops.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life

Our Senior Air Quality Engineer/Scientist position would be focused on New Mexico air permitting and compliance and based in New Mexico.

As a key member of the Permitting and Compliance Team, you will be reporting to the Senior Associate Scientist in charge of New Mexico permitting and compliance services and will work on a team of ten professionals.Our clients in the New Mexico regions include construction industries, mining, utilities, and manufacturers.

This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including air permitting, emission inventories, air dispersion modeling and health risk assessment, compliance management programs, compliance/field audits, regulatory development, project management, project budgeting, etc.

The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 to $115,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role,you’llbe comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
