Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Environmental Professional (Scientist, Geologist, Engineer) to support decommissioning, remediation and regulatory compliance for a large oil/gas client in Colorado. The role combines field work with office tasks and requires strong regulatory understanding and meticulous data handling.

Applicants should have 4–7+ years of environmental experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), and skills in soil/groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, and regulatory

• Bachelor's degree required in Geology, Environmental Science, or Engineering or related field; master's preferred.
• 4–7+ years of environmental experience.
• Experience with soil and groundwater sampling and drilling oversight.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background, MVR, and drug screening.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (current 8-hour refresher).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Suite; familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to perform outdoor field work, lift up to 50 lbs., travel locally with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Interface with clients to provide project updates and support needs.
• Assist with cost proposal development and scope definition.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
• Follow safety programs and OSHA regulations; participate in safety training.

Our Project Environmental Professional (Scientist, Geologist, Engineer) position will support project work for a large oil/gas client located in Colorado centering around decommissioning, remediation, and regulatory compliance.

This position will have a combination of field/office and will have a strong regulatory compliance aspect. It is fast-paced, technical in nature, and involves regulatory understanding.

The annual compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $95,000, commensuratewith experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Provide support to project management teams moving oil and gas sites through the decommissioning and remediation process towards regulatory closure.
• Prepare and manage regulatory reporting deliverables, including Colorado ECMC Form 27 Site Investigation and Remediation Workplans, ensuring technical accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage multiple project tasks simultaneously; serve as a field lead on select projects and mentor technicians and staff.
• Lead and support environmental field activities, including soil and groundwater sampling, subsurface investigations, and data collection.
• Oversee drilling subcontractors, maintain accurate boring logs, and support proper monitoring well design and installation.
• Apply relevant regulatory standards and technical guidance to project work.
• Track project hours and manage time effectively to meet scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Communicate proactively with project managers regarding schedule, budget, or technical challenges.
• Interface with clients to provide project updates and support client needs.
• Assist with cost proposal development and scope definition based on project requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Follow company safety programs and OSHA regulations; participate in required safety training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Expertise and Skills
