Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services is seeking an Air Permitting Section Manager to lead the Wood and Surface Coating Permit Section within the Bureau of Air Quality. This role requires technical leadership to ensure permits are issued in accordance with state and federal requirements.

Under limited supervision, you will provide expert guidance to staff and stakeholders, review technical documents, and help develop policies that keep the program current with evolving air

Qualifications

• Requires a master’s or bachelor’s degree in natural/physical sciences or public health with related environmental experience.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal air laws and air permitting.
• Experience leading and supervising technical staff.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Wood and Surface Coating Permit Section.
• Provide technical guidance to staff and stakeholders.
• Review documents to ensure permits comply with regulations.
• Represent the department at meetings and conferences as a technical expert.
• Develop policies and guidance to stay current with requirements.
