Job summary

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Air Resources, seeks a supervisor to oversee engineers and specialists, assign Title V and Air State Facility permits, and guide staff to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities include regulatory oversight of facilities emitting pollutants, site inspections, permit writing, document reviews, and staff performance management; telecommuting may be available up to 50% of the work schedule.

Qualifications

  • New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license and current registration.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field as listed in the qualifications.
  • One year of full-time qualifying engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day to day activities of Assistant Engineers and Environmental Program Specialists; provide clear direction on priorities.
  • Assign Title V and Air State Facility permit applications and other projects; oversee review and processing; track progress to meet deadlines.
  • Provide regulatory oversight for facilities that emit regulated pollutants; includes site inspections, permit writing, and complaint responses.
  • Perform administrative duties and ensure compliance with department guidance and safety policies.
