Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with enterprise customers, designing and deploying AI-powered production systems with the customer teams. You will own outcomes end-to-end, from prototype through scalable deployment, and create reusable architectures that scale the FDE practice.

You will lead technical delivery across engagements, architect AI systems at scale, and drive operational excellence while mentoring junior FDEs and contributing to interview and hiring processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
• 5+ years of programming with at least one language.
• 5+ years of leading design/architecture of systems for production scale.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading AI/agent-based development at production scale.
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across customer engagements and align architecture with business strategy. Travel 30–50%.
• Architect and build production AI systems at enterprise scale with multi-agent orchestration and retrieval systems.
• Define operational standards and production readiness criteria across engagements.
• Scale the team by defining patterns, mentoring, and hiring, driving engineering excellence.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption and create reusable accelerators and platforms.
