Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to lead the retrieval platform for AI Ops. You will design, implement, test, and operate Python services indexing source repositories and engineering documents while preserving permissions.

You will collaborate across teams, define measurements for freshness, latency, and retrieval quality, and build tooling and runbooks to support adoption. Prior backend experience and familiarity with search/RAG concepts are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Production experience building and operating backend or platform systems.
• Experience with search, code intelligence, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Strong Python and systems engineering skills for building services, pipelines, and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, design, implementation, testing, and operation of the retrieval platform.
• Develop Python services and pipelines indexing code repositories and docs while preserving permissions.
• Build repeatable evaluations for lexical and vector search, ranking, chunking, freshness, and retrieval quality.
• Collaborate with source systems teams to deliver practical API and MCP-compatible integrations.
• Ensure operational health with metrics for index freshness, failures, latency, and cost.
• Support platform adoption with tests, tooling, and runbooks.
