Job summary

Orgro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and sustain full-stack applications supporting FEMA's AI portfolio. The role leads architecture for new AI solutions and assesses externally developed solutions for integration within FEMA environments.

You will collaborate with FEMA product owners, AI engineers, platform teams, and cybersecurity personnel to deliver reliable applications across FEMA-approved cloud and software platforms.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of relevant software development and application engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, AI, ML, or related field.
• Strong full-stack development with modern front-end, back-end, and database tech.
• Relational databases and application integration knowledge.
• Experience with software architecture, system design, testing, debugging, deployment, sustainment.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and observability tools.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum environments.
• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop front-end, middleware, API, database, and back-end components for AI-enabled apps.
• Translate requirements into system architecture, specifications, and working software.
• Design and maintain REST APIs, data contracts, and authentication controls.
• Assess externally developed apps, code, deployments, tests, and support readiness.
• Advise on whether external solutions should be accepted, hardened, or redesigned.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and IaC components.
• Implement logging, monitoring, observability, rollback, and recovery features.
• Support installation, deployment, upgrades, defect resolution, and performance tuning.
• Produce architecture, build, test, deployment, operations, and support docs.
• Participate in Agile planning, demos, and joint development with FEMA stakeholders.
• Develop software meeting FEMA security, privacy, accessibility, and Section 508 requirements.
