Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer for a government customer in Eagan, MN. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, with responsibilities spanning design, development, and DevSecOps collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience (or 6+ with a Master’s), strong microservices experience, and proficiency in Java, Python, or C++ on Linux, plus AI/ML exposure. Public Trust clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience building and supporting microservices-based systems.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or similar on a Linux-based system).
• Experience or exposure to AI/ML-enabled systems, automation, or intelligent platforms.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Understanding of APIs and distributed system concepts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead Agile sprint planning with clear deliverables and execution.
• Mentor team members with technical leadership and collaboration.
• Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineers in Agile/SAFe.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives).
• Translate requirements into working software with systems engineering teams.
• Develop code with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
• Contribute to system design discussions and technical decisions.
• Integrate services with databases, messaging systems, and APIs.
• Implement automated testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end).
