Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Applied Researcher 5 to help build trustworthy AI systems that reshape how customers interact with their money. You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to develop AI-powered products and production-ready solutions.

You will work with PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, and Lightning to unlock insights in large data and to advance AI foundation models through all development stages, from design to deployment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related field by start date.
• MS in same fields with 4 years applied research experience.
• Experience building AI foundation models and using open-source tools.
• Track record of publishing or project contributions in ML/AI.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
• Leverage technologies like PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace and Lightning to analyze large data sets.
• Build AI foundation models through design, training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Translate latest AI developments into production-ready customer experiences.
• Lead research threads bridging prototype models and ML engineering for production impact.
