WRITER is seeking an AI research scientist to advance large language models and agentic systems at enterprise scale. You will work at the center of a cross‑functional team, shaping research that feeds into production products used by hundreds of thousands daily.

This role is hybrid, with hubs in San Francisco or New York City; compensation ranges from $199k to $325k, reflecting experience. You’ll publish, mentor, and drive impact across research, engineering, and product.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS, ML, NLP or equivalent research track.
• Hands-on ML research focusing on large language models and post-training methods.
• Experience with SFT, RLHF, RLAIF, DPO and alignment techniques.
• Strong Python and PyTorch (or JAX) coding and scalable training pipelines.
• Well‑established publication record at NeurIPS/ICML/ACL/EMNLP or equivalent.
• Experience designing or evaluating agentic systems (multi‑step reasoning, tool use).
• Collaborative mindset: cross‑functional communication and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead an independent, high‑impact research agenda on LLMs and agentic systems.
• Design and run large‑scale post‑training experiments (SFT, RLHF, RLAIF, DPO).
• Build evaluation benchmarks and robust performance measures.
• Develop scalable data synthesis and curation pipelines for training signals.
• Shape model architecture and training roadmap with research engineering and product teams.
• Publish and present original research at top venues.
• Mentor researchers and engineers to raise scientific rigor.
