Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed with strategic enterprise customers, design and deploy AI-powered production systems, and own outcomes end-to-end with customer engineering teams.

You will lead technical delivery, make architecture decisions, and drive scalable patterns that accelerate AI adoption across customer organizations. Travel 30–50% is required as part of multi-workstream programs.

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale (developing AI agents a plus).
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Make architecture decisions that span multiple services and organizational boundaries.
Align technical approach with the customer's long-term technology strategy.
Requires 30–50% travel.

Drive clarity where the business problem or technology approach is not fully defined.
Own production excellence across workstreams with standards, evaluation frameworks and readiness criteria.
Scale the team's effectiveness by defining engineering patterns and mentoring FDEs.
Accelerate customer transformation by creating accelerators and reusable platforms.
