Job summary

Arena is seeking an Associate General Counsel, AI Product & Litigation, to join our San Francisco team onsite three days per week. You will serve as the embedded legal partner to product and engineering, lead privacy compliance, and advise on AI governance and data privacy.

With 8+ years of experience, a JD, and active U.S. bar membership, you will own regulatory matters, negotiate privacy provisions, build scalable legal processes, and help shape policy for real-world AI evaluation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience in privacy and product counseling at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house
• JD and active membership in at least one US state bar (California preferred)
• Proven track record building and running a global privacy program (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
• Ability to advise product and engineering teams in real time with practical guidance
• Strategic thinking to drive complex problems and cross-border solutions
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across orgs
• Experience building scalable processes and tooling for privacy and product governance
• Familiarity with consumer products and data flows in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Counsel Product & Engineering: embed legal partner to advise on privacy, IP, enterprise use cases, consumer protection from concept to launch
• Lead Privacy Compliance: own Arena's global privacy program including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA
• Drive AI Governance: advise on responsible AI product development and regulatory questions
• Support Commercial Transactions: design and maintain data flow contracts; negotiate privacy provisions
• Process & Technology Optimization: build and scale privacy/product legal processes and tools
• Regulatory & Litigation: own regulatory inquiries, investigations, and complex litigation matters
