Milliman, Inc. is seeking a Senior Technical Lead in Chicago to own the technical direction of our AI-enabled healthcare products. You will set architecture, APIs, data models, and drive reliable software delivery with a hands-on, production-focused approach.

You will lead engineers, work with product owners, and ensure deployment, monitoring, and quality practices across distributed systems in a healthcare context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least six years of relevant software engineering experience, data-intensive systems, or platform engineering.
• At least two years in a technical lead, staff engineer, or similar role with delivery ownership.
• Strong production-software engineering skills for debugging and improving implementations.
• Experience designing and operating cloud-based systems on Azure or comparable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead pragmatic architecture and integration across services and APIs.
• Translate business needs into executable technical plans with clear milestones.
• Improve delivery with automated tests and data-quality controls.
• Enhance production readiness, monitoring, and rollback practices.
• Guide AI-assisted development tools with proper human oversight and evaluation.
• Develop reusable engineering capabilities and patterns.
• Mentor and develop engineers to take ownership.
• Connect engineering decisions to user outcomes and risk management.
