Job summary

Milliman is seeking a Senior Technical Lead for its CMH Health practice to own the technical direction of AI-enabled healthcare products. You will lead architecture, drive delivery, and ensure reliable, auditable outcomes across complex actuarial workflows.

You will work hands-on, reading code, debugging production issues, and building critical components while mentoring other engineers and aligning technical work with user outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least six years of relevant software engineering experience.
• At least two years in a technical lead or similar role.
• Strong production-software engineering skills for inspecting and debugging implementations.
• Experience designing and operating Azure-based cloud systems.
• Strong understanding of SQL, data modeling, APIs, and cross-system integration.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools with validated outputs.
• Evidence of leading substantial technical work with dependencies and stakeholders.
• Clear written and verbal communication and ability to coach others.
• Curiosity about healthcare actuarial workflows and business context.

Responsibilities

• Lead pragmatic architecture and integration with secure, scalable boundaries.
• Turn business needs into executable technical plans and own delivery commitments.
• Strengthen automated tests, data-quality controls, and AI evaluation practices.
• Improve production readiness with deployment, monitoring, and rollback practices.
• Guide AI-assisted engineering, including context management and human oversight.
• Create reusable engineering capabilities and tooling across teams.
• Develop independent engineers through ownership and feedback.
• Connect engineering decisions to user outcomes with stakeholders.
