Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, AI Engineer to lead AI platform services across agentic AI, guardrails, evaluation, and related areas. You will drive cross‑functional collaboration, design and deploy AI components, and steer model governance and observability at scale.

You will influence core decision making, mentor a high‑performing team, and shape the long-term AI roadmap while staying at the forefront of AI research and responsible deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 4 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• At least 1 year of people leadership experience
• 3 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team
• 6 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent)
• Experience developing AI/ML algorithms using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang
• Passion for AI research and applying novel techniques in production
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies
• Invent and apply state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production systems
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
• Attract and nurture top AI talent and foster a culture of learning
