Job summary

Chrono24 is seeking an (Senior) AI Platform Engineer to empower engineers to work with AI. You will be part of the Platform Engineering team, reporting to the Director Platform Engineering, with hands-on responsibilities to make AI a reliable part of software development for millions of enthusiasts.

You will build the harness around AI agents, implement automated quality checks, and embed with product teams to roll out practical AI solutions while shaping guardrails and documentation.

Qualifications

• A strong software engineering background with substantial development experience (roughly 8–10 years).
• Hands-on AI experience and the ability to apply AI in software development, staying current with the field.
• Language- and stack-agnostic approach; quick to understand team workflows.
• Very good English skills; German proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build the harness around AI agents: the skills, tools, and structure that wrap a model to run autonomously.
• Add quality automation and checks (tests, linters, static analysis) on every merge to maintain quality.
• Apply software engineering judgment to ensure agent outputs meet expectations; close the loop when they don’t.
• Make foundations AI-friendly with documentation, code structure, and guardrails.
• Evaluate AI tooling pragmatically and guide build-versus-buy decisions.
• Embed with engineering teams to understand problems and roll out proven solutions.

About

As (Senior) AI Platform Engineer (m/f/d) you will empower Chrono24's engineers work with AI. This is a newly created role in our Platform Engineering team, reporting directly to the Director Platform Engineering with no intermediate management layer. Your mission is to make AI a reliable part of how our engineers build software: systematic, reproducible engineering they can count on every day. You work hands-on and close to the teams, on a platform trusted by millions of watch enthusiasts worldwide. Real ownership, direct visibility, and the freedom to shape how a fast-growing engineering organization adopts AI.

What you can expect

• You build the harness around our agents: the skills, tools, and structure that wrap a model so it can run autonomously.
• You build quality automation and build processes that keep agent output reliable as AI raises the volume of code and change: AI code review plus automated checks like tests, linters, and static analysis, running on every merge request, so quality holds even though the model underneath is non-deterministic.
• You bring the software engineering judgment to tell whether a skill or agent run actually produced what we want. You have written plenty of code, you know what good looks like, and you hold agent output to that bar, closing the loop when it falls short.
• You make our foundations AI-friendly: documentation, code structure, and the rules and conventions agents work from, plus the guardrails that let them work well and safely.
• You evaluate AI tooling pragmatically and guide build-versus-buy decisions, so teams adopt what genuinely helps and skip what only adds noise.
• You embed with our engineering teams to understand their real problems, build solutions with them, and roll out what works so good practice spreads across teams instead of staying in one corner.

Your team

You join our Platform Team, at the center of AI enablement for Product & Technology. You work closely with our Lead Developers and you embed with the product teams to bring solutions to where the work actually happens. The role is collaborative by design: your impact comes from making others faster and better with AI, not from working in isolation.

What sets you apart

• A strong software engineering background with substantial development experience. Roughly eight to ten years is a useful reference, not a hard requirement.
• A genuine passion for AI, with hands-on experience and a deep understanding of how to use it in software development, plus the drive to keep up as the field moves fast.
• Language- and stack-agnostic: the specific language or stack does not matter. What matters more is being smart and quick to understand how the team works.
• Very good English skills; German proficiency is a plus.
