Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 4 to advance our Gen AI Platform Services, including agentic AI, guardrails, and evaluation capabilities. You will design and deploy AI software components, optimize performance, and collaborate with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered experiences for customers and associates.

The role requires strong software engineering and AI expertise, with experience in foundation model deployment, inference, and governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields with relevant AI/ML experience.
At least 4 years of experience developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies.
At least 4 years of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver AI‑powered products.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (LLM inference, agents, guardrails, evaluation).
Optimize performance, scalability, latency, and cost for large‑scale AI systems.
Define and maintain SLOs for AI reliability and observability.
Collaborate with infrastructure to optimize GPU/TPU usage and model pipelines.
Lead technical reviews for new AI deployments ensuring security and governance.
Mentor senior associates on scalable design and production translation.
