Job summary

Color is hiring a full-stack Senior Software Engineer to build AI products and the platform that powers them across Color. This role reports to the Senior Director of AI Platform and spans frontend, backend and systems engineering, with ownership from clinician and patient experiences to production services.

You will prototype quickly, apply modern LLM techniques, design privacy- and security-conscious healthcare data systems, mentor teammates, and raise Color’s AI fluency across the company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
• Hands-on experience building production AI products with modern LLMs.
• Experience turning complex, heterogeneous data into useful product experiences from prototype through production.
• Strong product judgment balancing speed, technical quality, reliability and user impact.
• Bias toward tinkering, rapid experimentation, and learning in evolving environments.
• An informed view on how AI is changing software engineering; you regularly experiment with new models and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build full‑stack AI applications from UX to backend services, AI orchestration, data access and deployment.
• Explore how emerging AI capabilities can improve cancer care and Color's workflow, from ideas to prototypes to production.
• Prototype with models, tools, and techniques and evolve best ideas into production systems.
• Develop reliable LLM-powered systems including retrieval, grounding, prompt management and tool use.
• Establish evaluation, observability, and safety practices to ensure AI quality and monitor regressions.
• Design privacy- and security-conscious systems for sensitive healthcare data and clinical workflows.
• Collaborate with product, design, clinical, and engineering teams to ship improvements quickly.
• Share experiments and patterns to raise Color’s AI fluency across the company.
• Mentor others and raise technical and product quality.
