Job summary

Vizient in Irving, TX is seeking an experienced backend/AI platform engineer to design and build scalable backend services, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML platform capabilities. You will collaborate with AI/ML engineers and data scientists to productionize LLM applications, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows, applying infrastructure-as-code and secure, observable systems.

This role also involves defining reusable platform patterns, tooling, and best practices to improve developer productivity

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience building production backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on IaC experience with Pulumi, Terraform, or similar tools across major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and serverless architectures is preferred.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and production support practices.
• Knowledge of ML/AI systems, model serving, LLMs, RAG workflows, data pipelines, or related AI platform tech.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform components for AI/ML apps and distributed systems.
• Build scalable cloud infrastructure using Pulumi and IaC practices; develop CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.
• Support production deployment of ML models, LLM apps, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI systems with collaboration across teams.
• Enhance observability and incident management to improve reliability and performance.
• Define reusable platform patterns, developer tooling, and engineering workflows to improve productivity and consistency across the AI/ML team.
