Job summary

Vizient seeks an experienced backend engineer to design and build scalable backend services and platform components enabling AI/ML products. You will partner with AI/ML engineers and data scientists to productionize LLM applications, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI workflows using Pulumi, Terraform, and cloud platforms.

You will implement modern CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and robust observability while shaping engineering standards and reusable platform patterns for the AI/ML

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in backend development.
• Experience building production-grade APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-based applications.
• Hands-on with Pulumi, Terraform and major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and serverless patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform components for AI/ML workloads.
• Build scalable cloud infrastructure using Pulumi and IaC practices; develop CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.
• Support production deployment of ML models, LLM apps, RAG pipelines, and agentic AI systems.
• Enhance observability with monitoring, logging, tracing, alerts, and incident response.
• Define engineering standards for testing, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Create reusable platform patterns, tooling, and workflows for the AI/ML team.
• Evaluate AI engineering trends and tooling to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Collaborate with product, security, data, and platform teams on production-ready AI solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive remediation to improve reliability.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
