Job summary

Covalent Resource Group is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to build the harness and production systems that enable autonomous AI at scale across client environments. You will own the agentic platform, from orchestration and tool integration to evaluation gates and observability, ensuring reliability in real workflows.

This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role where you will set coding standards, review approaches, and drive quality while partnering with product and leadership to deploy

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with depth as a senior IC who ships complex systems to production.
• Hands-on experience building and operating production AI or agentic systems.
• Experience implementing orchestration, tool/function calling, evaluation, context management, and handoffs between steps or agents.
• Strong software fundamentals: testing, CI/CD, observability, error handling for nondeterministic AI.
• Production cloud operations, ideally AWS, for architecting and running real workloads.
• Data and integration experience moving data between enterprise systems.
• Pragmatic builder who ships behind a flag when needed and iterates in production.
• Strong communicator across engineers, managers and executives.

Responsibilities

• Build the harness: the orchestration loop, tool-execution layer, evaluation gates, and observability.
• Ship agentic systems to production with reliable deployment, monitoring, and uptime.
• Build the evaluation and verification infrastructure, including automated judging.
• Build the platform substrate connecting agents to client data and external services.
• Set engineering bar by example, review code, and raise quality across the team.
