Job summary

Moderna is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead design and deployment of AI software platforms across Cambridge, MA and Warsaw, integrating Lakehouse patterns, MLflow, and vector search for scalable data products.

You will own end-to-end architecture, drive CI/CD and MLOps practices, and mentor engineers while partnering with product and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software, data, or AI engineering; 4+ years delivering production ML/GenAI systems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with Java/Scala/TypeScript.
• Frontend experience with TypeScript/JS and modern framework (React/Angular/Vue/Svelte).
• Backend API design with REST/GraphQL, auth, testing, observability.
• Experience architecting and operating LLM/GenAI systems, vector search, eval & monitoring.
• Cloud architecture on AWS/Azure/GCP, IAM, networking, IaC, production support.
• Experience in regulated environments with GxP, data integrity, and validation docs.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and reference architecture for AI software delivery and GenAI apps.
• Lead cloud deployment standards across dev, test, and production environments.
• Build and review critical components, APIs, and platform accelerators for production readiness.
• Establish engineering practices for AI/ML, including CI/CD, IaC, release management, and monitoring.
• Guide integration of SAP and enterprise data sources into trusted data products.
• Collaborate with product, security, quality, and infrastructure teams to meet business outcomes.
• Coach engineers across regions and drive engineering communities of practice.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and developer experience through guardrails and playbooks.
